Have you been fearful for the future of your children in this world that has most recently seemed like everything has been turned on its head?
Be hopeful, mama! We are now seeing glimpses of what the future holds...
Revival is here!
You may remember my Aslan is on the Move blog post from two years ago that compared our "dark winter" season with that written about in The Lion,The Witch and the Wardrobe and ended with this prayer:
Father, I believe you will defeat the spiritual darkness and bring about the Great Awakening and Revival that many of us have felt you have promised. Help me to STAND, be still before you, and watch for your salvation.
Friend, it is happening now!
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Asbury University, the speaker for their morning chapel service closed with a simple prayer:
"Jesus, do a new thing in our midst. Revive us in your love."
A few students gathered afterwards and one student's repentance led to another, and students began to come back into the worship center. They continued with their prayers, started singing again, and that gathering at the time of this writing is still going 24/7 since that time. People are reporting that God's palpable presence brings so much peace that they do not want to leave the building.
I keep thinking of the old hymn that says, "Heaven came down and glory filled my soul. When at the cross the Savior made me whole. My sins were washed away, and my night was turned to day. Heaven came down and glory filled my soul."
Just 6 weeks ago we sat and had lunch with friends David and Karen Thomas, visiting Phoenix from Kentucky, and shared our similar passion for prayer and hunger to see spiritual awakening in our nation.
They pastor at a church near Asbury University, and are among a few who have been called on to help lead during this time. (How cool is that, for a guy who did his Travailing Prayer doctoral dissertation on "To Sow for a Great Awakening.")
They are seeing people arrive by the busloads and from multiple countries to step into the revival waters. Karen asked us to pray for them, saying "It takes strong pastoral wisdom and discernment to steward a revival."
Since Wednesday, reports have come from over twenty other colleges that are having similar experiences of gatherings filled with repentance, worship, and the Word that are ongoing.
This is only the beginning!
Isn't it interesting that the movie Jesus Revolution will be out in theatres this month also?
Thank God for the light of hope.
"Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up! Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18-19
Do we dare pray, "Jesus, do a new thing in our midst. Revive us in your love"? And let's add on a tag to that..."May our children live out their God-given destinies with great joy!"
Amen! And may the fire of God spread throughout our land and this earth!
P.S. There are still a few spots left for the Coach Mom Live Retreat in Phoenix, which will kick off a week from today (Feb. 24-25)! Snag one of the last seats now! You will not regret it.
